Measuring Guide

It is important to establish accurate measurements of the wall area you wish to cover with glass splashback. All dimensions should be double checked to achieve a good fit. Our glass splashbacks are toughened to conform with British Standards. Toughened glass can not be trimmed, altered or drilled. Hence all cutouts shall be accurately measured and clearly marked using our template form provided.

As industry standard “width” is noted before the “height”.

Always take measurements in millimeters, mm.

Allow 6mm clearance on a single dimension, to consider 3mm off at each edge. This to allow for temperature movements in the material. Later the void is sealed upon installation.

Hob Splashbacks

Using a spirit level, check if the wall and surfaces are straight and level.

Take a measurement for “width”. E.g if the splashback is installed between the cabinets, check for measurements at top, middle and bottom level. Take a measurement for “Height”. Check at various location, e.g. start, middle and end position.

Counter Splashbacks

Survey the area of installation, to establish which template form is best suited to your requirement. There are list of template forms available in downloads section. Select as suitable.

Where multiple splashback glass panels are required, label the template forms starting from Left to Right, e.g A, B, C etc.

Take “width” and “height” measurements at various locations, and clearly label on the template form.

Note how many cutouts are required, these cutouts are to accommodate for electrical sockets or a permanent furniture fittings. As these will be measured and noted on the template form.

Note: there has to be a minimum distance of 30mm between any two cutouts, to maintain structural integrity of glass.

Measure distances from glass edge to the vertical and horizontal edge of the socket, also denote if it is a single or a double socket.

Shower Wall Panels

Walls are not always straight or have perfect 90 degree corners. They may be skewed, have bow or bulge at places. Hence a wall should be surveyed thoroughly to establish a good measurement for your Shower wall panel. A template form should be used to denote sizes and variations.

To install service fittings and fixtures on the shower wall panels, cutouts in glass will be required. The exact location of each cutout should be accurately established and noted on the template form.

Note: WE WILL ALWAYS WORK TO YOUR SUPPLIED DIMENSIONS AND CUTOUT DETAILS PROVIDED. ONCE YOUR ORDER IS PROCESSED, NO ALTERATIONS CAN BE MADE TO SIZES OR CUTOUTS.

Upstands

When measuring upstands, a total length of the wall shall be measured. Usually upstands are narrow. Hence after taking the length dimension, splice shall be introduced at 1 metre intervals or best suited as per design layout.

E.g. If the length of the measured area is 1650mm, splice will be introduced to make two upstands, at lengths 1000mm and 650mm or two at 825mm. This will be confirmed with order acknowledgement.

Height dimension can be made to requirement or industry standard is 150mm.
